1-2-1 Recovery Coaching

Recovery is a journey of re-discovering who you are. If you’re ready to build your toolkit and explore new horizons, then I’m here to walk with you.

I believe that the most profound change happens when you feel seen, heard, and held in unconditional positive regard. My work is informed by both professional qualification and lived experience, allowing me to bridge the gap between clinical tools and human connection.

My coaching practice is designed to support:

  • Neurodivergent Adults: Navigating the complexities of Autism, ADHD and other N.D conditions (including late-life diagnosis).
  • Professional Recovery: Overcoming burnout, chronic stress, and workplace anxiety.
  • Life Transitions: Working through bereavement, depression, and the lingering effects of PTSD.
  • Growth & Direction: For those feeling "lost", "stuck" or struggling with low self-esteem.

Your Toolkit for Change

In our sessions, we don’t just talk about the "why"—we focus on the how. I believe in "helping you to help yourself" so that long term recovery is a more likely outcome.
Together, we will explore change and practice it whilst developing a personalised toolkit for you that improves your sense of self,  builds confidence, and helps you navigate life's challenges with resilience and a renewed sense of purpose.

Using an entirely flexible approach, I employ a number of means by which to affect positive change; these include but are not limited to:

  • Relational Coaching & Mentoring: Building a strong, supportive bond to facilitate growth.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Coaching Techniques: Practical tools to help shift patterns of thought and behaviour.
  • Creative Exploration: Using creativity and imagination to help unlock "new ways of being" to break through old barriers.
  • Mindfulness & Therapeutic Activity: Grounding techniques to manage anxiety and improve wellbeing.
  • Advocacy: Where necessary, I offer advocacy in areas where you may need to ensure your voice is heard and understood.

Your first step to a new beginning

The first step towards 1-2-1 recovery coaching is free. This initial conversation allows us to understand your situation, discuss your goals, and explore how personalised coaching can best support you. It's an opportunity for us to connect and ensure my approach aligns with your needs, with no obligation.

The coaching journey: What to expect

After our initial consultation, we'll collaboratively design a custom coaching plan. You can expect regular, private 1-2-1 sessions where we will meet to discuss your coaching goals, develop practical strategies, emotional support, and accountability. My aim is to empower you with the tools, insights, and confidence to navigate life's challenges, embrace them and achieve sustainable personal growth. It’s a partnership built on trust and dedicated to your success.

Typical coaching sessions take place face to face between 60-90minutes in a suitable location or via phone call, Teams or WhatsApp video call.

A Note on Crisis

My expertise lies in long-term recovery and growth. If you are currently in an immediate crisis, I can provide short-term support to establish safety and signpost you to an appropriate primary care provider to ensure you get the specialist help you need.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I need a formal diagnosis to work with you?

No. Whether you have a formal diagnosis (such as Autism, ADHD, or PTSD) or you are simply struggling with your mental wellbeing, burnout, or a sense of being "lost," you are welcome here. I work with the person, not the label.

How many sessions will I need?

Recovery isn't a "quick fix." While some clients find clarity in a few sessions, most benefit from a mid-to-long-term partnership. We will regularly review our progress to ensure the coaching remains valuable to you.

Is this the same as therapy or counselling?

While my work is informed by therapeutic principles and I use a "relational approach," Recovery Coaching is more action-oriented and forward-facing. We focus on building useful tools to help you help yourself for the present and future, though we always hold space for the experiences that brought you here.

I’ve never done "outdoor coaching"—what if I’m not fit?

There is no "peak bagging" required! My outdoor sessions are about connection with nature, not physical endurance. We use low-level walks, nature reserves, or even just sitting by water. We move at a pace that feels restorative, not exhausting.

What if I’m in a period of high anxiety or crisis?

If you are in immediate crisis, my priority is your safety. I will work with you and/or your family for a limited time to establish the level of risk and help signpost you to the appropriate primary care provider. Once you are stable and "sufficiently recovered" from the peak of the crisis, we can begin our longer-term recovery coaching work.

Where exactly do we meet when Coaching Beyond Four Walls?

Typically, our meeting point is near Penrith. From there, I provide transfers to our specific outdoor location dependant on weather conditions on the day.

Where do the 1-2-1 coaching sessions take place?

If we are meeting indoors we will agree to meet in a quiet location, cafe , provate meeting room or at your home. If meeting online then we will do this via a standard phone call or secure video link App (Teams/WhatsApp).
